Step 1 Warming up
The teacher does a brief self-introduction by using some adjectives first to lead the students to the teaching theme and then tells them when they try to introduce or describe someone, they can use adjectives to make their introduction or description more impressive.
Step 2 Brainstorming The teacher says she wants to know something about their head teacher, whom the students are most familiar with at school. Ask them to discuss with each other and then give as many adjectives as possible to describe him or her.
After the students give some adjectives, the teacher points out that some adjectives can be used to describe one’s appearance while some others can be used to describe one’s personality --- that’s today’s teaching theme. The teacher picks out some of the words mentioned by the students and emphasizes that some adjectives are positive but some others are negative.
Step 3 Classifying words
Work in pairs and point out all the negative words below.
