Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
Lead in the topic and, at the same time, get the students to talk about the activities they usually share with their fathers.
Step 2 Read and find out
Go through the article quickly and then find out what activity is shared by the father and the son in the passage.
Step 3 Read between the lines
Read the passage for some detailed information.
Para.1-5 The first scene described by the author.
The cheerful feeling between the father and the son has totally changed the
atmosphere in the shuttle.
Para.6-12 The second scene described by the author.
To show that the father and the son are just riding the shuttle. It can also
add to the cheerful feeling of the scene, in contrast to those parents
who has spent a lot of money but still failed.
Para. 13-14 The third scene described by the author.
Comparison is made between the father and the son and “the other
people”. The father stay where they are, but are happy and content.
Para. 15-17 Problems and solutions
The answer is so simple: parents who care enough to spend time, and to
pay attention and to try their best.
Step 4 Understand beyond the lines
Make a summary of the inspirations that we can draw from the passage, and get
ready for the writing task.
Step 5 Try to use: write a few words to their beloved ones
Write 3-4 sentences to share what they have learned in the passage to a beloved one
