Reading
I. Analysis of Teaching Material and Students
This is a reading class, and my students are 57 senior high students from class 28, Grade2. Even though the students have attended high school for one year, their reading skills still need improving. The teaching material from unit 2 of Oxford Advanced English is printed by Yilin Publishing House. This reading passage is a debate whose topic is ‘ the economy or the environment-----must we choose’. The students are supposed to learn how to debate, which will definitely stimulate their interest. Besides, the students should be aware of the current environmental problems and raise their awareness to protect our environment.

Key point:
Develop the two reading skills: skimming and scanning.

Help the students to grasp the concept of a debate.
Help the students to learn some of the new words and expressions about the environment.
Help students to raise their awareness of protecting our environment.
