译林2003课标版《Reading(1):The economy or the environment—must we choose?》公开课教案优质课下载
This article is about environmental issues. It is a debate called “The economy or the environment? —Must we choose?”. The passage is a debate with two sides holding different opinions, each with convincing evidence and persuasive language. Opinions vary among them. The teacher intends to use the first material as the main source of information and the second as an additional reading material to gather information in class.
Analysis of the students
The Senior Two students from Sanduo High School are not good at English. I assume that they have no abundant knowledge and a rich vocabulary and can’t therefore cooperate with the teacher well in class. Before this period, students need to prepare much related knowledge. In this period of high school, they are also able to learn to think critically. Meanwhile, they are in a relatively high level of self-development and are supposed to care about the current environmental problems and relate them to themselves.
Teaching Objectives
By the end of the class, the students are expected to:
1. Learn how to read a debate and give a speech in a debate.
2. Think critically about the given material.
3. Analyze different views of different people.
4. Think of some ways to deal with the environmental problems.
Important and difficult points
It’s important to equip the students with some knowledge of a typical debate and it may be difficult to guide them to apply the knowledge learnt in class to their debate.
Teaching procedures
Step 1: Lead-in
