Procedures for teaching:

Step 1 lead-in

Ask students about their understanding of the environment before introducing the topic of the reading

Step 2 Comprehension of the text

Help students understand a debate by asking them to fill in the blanks

Ask Ss to listen to a debate and answer the following questions.

1)What side do Mr Lin Shuiqing and Mr Qian Liwei each represent?

2)From what aspects do the two speakers prove their ideas?

Ask students to fill in a table on the screen according to the text.

Ask the students to retell some part of the text according to the given information

Step3 Free talk

How can a balance between economic development and environmental protection be achieved?

Step 4.writing

Help the students finish the writing orally first before asking them to do the writing

Step 5 Homework

Polish your writing and share your writing with your friends.
