Questionnaire:

1. Where has the tree grown?

2. What did the author do to prevent the ants from reaching to the leaves?

3. How did they overcome the obstacles?

Answers:

The tree has grown against a warm wall on a sheltered side of the house.

A sticky tape was put to bind the base of the tree .

By discovering a new route and climbing up the wall of the house and then on to the leaves of the tree.

「设计意图」本文共两个段落，导入后引导学生先读第二段作者观察蚂蚁时发生的小故事，让学生读故事思考蚂蚁的本能是什么，及为什么蚂蚁会成功找到食物。得出instint的另一层含义be hard to change.

「设计意图」引导学生进一步阅读并找出作者描述的对于昆虫人的本能是什么。人类将从昆虫身上学到的如何应用在生活和科技中？

What can we learn?

Although it’s hard to erase the fear for insects, we can take advantage of our instinct (fascination/curiosity) and learn from them.
