Step 1 Warm-up
Ask some students to present their oral reports about cloning. It’s to warm up the class.
Step 2. Lead-in
Repeat what some students have said , especially “cloning human tissues and organs can help fight with diseases” and lead in the topic: What are the names of our organs? And what are the usages of them?
Step 3. Organs of the body
1 Have students look at the pictures of the major organs of the body in Part A on Page 47. Tell students that an organ is a part of the body that has a special job to do. Make sure that students can pronounce the name of each organ correctly and know what these names refer to.
2 Have students focus on Part B. Tell students to read the passage individually first. Make sure that they understand the passage. Afterwards，have students complete the passage individually, then check the answers as a class.
Step 4. Thinking
Ask students to think about the question :Do you think it is legal or illegal
to clone human tissues and organs?What about cloing human beings?
Then write the two words “legal/ illegal” on the blackboard, and lead in the
second topic: prefixes and suffixes
Step 5. Presentation of prefixes and suffixes
Solve the problems on the papers and help students understand the different meanings of these prefixes and suffixes.
Read the following words and answer the questions with them using prefixes or suffixes.
Discussion:
Work in groups of four and try to give more prefixes and suffixes and list several words as examples.
